Food Issues We Face

It has been hard to turn on a news show recently without hearing that somewhere food problems are occuring. Whether it is the cost and shortages of rice in the east, protests over corn in Mexico, hunger in Africa, or food prices down the street. But why is this happening all at once?

If we take a step back and look at the big picture it becomes obvious that food is not an system unto itself but is interconnected with numerous other systems. Oil, water, arable land, weather, and population are but a few of the systems interwoven into the global food network. Add to this geopolitics, greed, and control and it can really get complicated. To solve the coming food crisis we must first understand it is not just a food crisis but a comprehensive systems crisis.
